Melissa, a native Texan, joined the education field immediately after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Incarnate Word in 2001. She spent the next decade as a general education teacher designing and implementing lesson plans that would meet a variety of learners’ needs.
After moving to New Orleans with her fiancé and devoting her time to raising their son, Melissa rejoined the education field at Chartwell in 2017 as an interventionist.
Shortly after, she began her graduate studies in Applied Behavior Analysis at Ball State University earning a Master of Arts degree in 2018 and a BCBA certification in 2019.
Melissa combines her extensive teaching background with her experience utilizing principles of applied behavior analysis to serve families and children in educational and behavioral outcomes. She is most passionate about helping children gain lifelong success and independence by improving their social and functional life skills.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys watching baking shows, fishing, and hanging out with her fiancé, John, and son, Myles.
